In 1906, Finland became the first nation in the world to grant universal female suffrage. This historic achievement for women was thanks to the Finnish socialists during the revolutionary uprising that swept the Tsarist Empire, to which Finland belonged. In 2006, on the centenary of this important event, Finland issues its third commemorative 2-euro coin, on October 4 it is the date chosen for the circulation of the coins under the name of "First Centennial of universal and equal suffrage".
In the inner part of the coin there are two faces, one male and one female, separated by a line. The date "1.10.1906" appears on the left side of the coin and the year with the interleaved country code ("20 FI 06") on the right side. The mark of the director of the Finnish Mint "M" (Raimo Makkonen) appears on the left of each face. In the circular crown appear the twelve stars of the European flag.
A total of 2,500,000 coins were issued, mostly distributed in rolls of 25 coins, although it could also be obtained in the following official presentations.
