Our friends Euromunter from the Netherlands, and Wojtax from Germany, have sent me information about the third commemorative 2 euro coin of the series that began broadcasting Malta in 2016 and will run until 2020, under the name «Children and Solidarity », This year is broadcast under the theme« Cultural Heritage ». All designs come out of a competition among high school students in Malta.
The design work of a scholar presents themes intrinsically related to the Maltese culture: in allusion to the ancient prehistoric temples, which are the oldest autonomous structures in the world; a dome and a church tower, characteristic of the Maltese city; and a representation of a traditional Maltese ship with a Maltese flag.
The planned date of emission is November of this year, with a circulation of 320,000 pieces.
Predictably 300,000 are issued in rolls and 20,000 in coincard with the mint mark of the Monnaie de Paris.
