The Central Bank of the Philippines has announced the release of 10 million 1-floor coins to commemorate the ASEAN country presidency, which will host during 2017, the year in which the 50 Anniversary of its foundation.
On the obverse of the coin are shown various elements of the logo of the ASEAN presidency by the Philippines in 2017. It includes ten stars representing the states of its ten members with their names engraved in microtext on the right side. On the edge is the theme "Cooperating for change, with the participation of the World". The ASEAN emblem stands at the center with images of the sun and the dove symbolizing prosperity and peace; While the Filipina mint brand appears on the bottom.
The reverse represents the monument to the national hero Jose Rizal, Philippine symbol of courage and patriotism. The BSP stamp appears on the right side with the text "ASEAN 2017". The words "Republika NG Pilipinas" are engraved in the upper right. The denomination of the coin appears in the bottom of the coin and underneath it the list of the member states of the ASEAN.
