On the present piece, considerable prooflike gleam, characteristic of strikings from a fresh die, remains apparent, with the minor surface ticks that so often accompany this issue scattered about. Though dated 1922, this coin was actually struck in 1928/9 (after Ferdinand's death, in fact), in accordance with the 1927 decree to celebrate the 5th anniversary of him being crowned King of Romania.
