Mexican Silver Libertad coins maintain immense popularity and demand through lower mintages. While the American Silver Eagle, for example, was minted in 2015 with an astonishing 47.3 million coins, the Mexican Silver Libertad’s bullion coin has mintage figures that rarely surpass one million coins in total. In fact, there were just a total of 1,004,800 coins available in 2015.

Unlike other popular bullion silver coins, the Mexican Silver Libertad is available in a variety of sizes. While the Canadian Silver Maple Leaf and the American Silver Eagle are available only in 1 oz weights, the Mexican Silver Libertad features the popular 1 oz weight, four fractional-weight coins, a 2 oz coin, and a 5 oz coin.

Each of the 2016 1 oz Mexican Silver Libertad coins in this product listing feature Brilliant Uncirculated grades. Coins in BU condition exhibit no signs of wear and tear, while you may also notice detracting flaws such as breaks in the luster, spotted surfaces, or contact marks from the coining process.

On the obverse of the coin is the image of Winged Victory, a symbol of freedom and justice during the Mexican Revolution against Spanish colonial rule. Engravings on this face of the coin include the coin’s weight, metal content, purity, and the Mexican Mint’s “MO” mint mark. The coin’s year of issue is also featured on this face.

The 2016 1 oz Mexican Silver Libertad coin features the official seal for the coat of arms of Mexico on the reverse. This image is surrounded by 10 smaller versions of the seal that have been used by the government throughout the past 190 years.

Founded in 1535, the Mexican Mint is the oldest operating facility in the Western Hemisphere. Originally founded by Spanish conquistadors, the Mexican Mint once produced coinage for Spanish colonies throughout the Western Hemisphere.
