On January 14, the Bank of Ukraine issued a bimetallic coin of 5 Hryven belonging to the series dedicated to their regions, this time to the Transcarpathian of which is the 70th anniversary of its founding in 2016. This currency and all of the series in one side imaging features of the area such as monuments, iconic buildings and industries in which they live their peoples, and in the other the shield of the region shows are represented.
Transcarpathia is the only Ukrainian region bordering four countries - Hungary, Poland, Romania and Slovakia. The 70 percent of the land is mountainous, making it have a unique natural landscape with a rich diversity and great potential in natural resources.These characteristics determine the peculiarity of the socio-economic development of the region.

Transcarpathia
Between 1918 and X century, Transcarpathia was part of the kingdom of Hungary. Later, it was handed to Czechoslovakia until the Second World War, when he joined the Soviet Union in the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic.
Although Ukrainians are the majority, there are also significant populations of Hungarians (12.1% of the population, the majority in the border areas), Romanians, Slovaks and Roma. The area is 13,000 square kilometers; with a population in 2013 of 1,254,597 inhabitants. The economy is based on trade with neighboring countries, vineyard and wood.
