During this month will be issued and offered for sale, the currency of 2.5 euros that the Portuguese INCM dedicated to Olympic Team Portugal will participate in the Rio 2016 Olympics.
The coin has two versions with the same design, in copper-nickel they can get their face value in Portugal or in the online shop of the INCM, and other minted in gold and silver at a higher price.
On the occasion of the participation of Portugal in the Olympic Games of 2016, the INCM, in close collaboration with the Olympic Committee of Portugal, produced two commemorative collector coin with the same design, in copper-nickel and other gold and silver properties unique.
The design of this coin corresponds to the artist Joana Vasconcelos, who has chosen to represent the five interlocking Olympic rings a suggestive, where the symbolic union of nations around the sport is embodied at the junction of the two metals.
This coin has required an innovative technological process by the Portuguese Mint INCM, which has required many hours of studies and trials, to enable the union of two alloys of different metals, gold and silver, a so unparalleled level of numismatic.
