Klin is a city in the Moscow region, and administrative center of the Klinsky district. The first mention in written sources about the city of Klin dates from 1317, with what is considered this date as the date of foundation of the city.

In the twelfth and thirteenth centuries, the territory of Klin was part of the Vladimir-Suzdal Principality. In the early thirteenth century, Prince Vladimir Yuri Vsevolodovich built a series of fortress cities that tried to protect the borders of his vast principality. One of those fortresses was built on the bank of the Sestra River and for many centuries it remained a strategic and important site on the road from Moscow to Veliky Novgorod.

The city's advantageous location on trade routes determined its destiny, making it an apple of discord for Russian princes. Located between the cities of Moscow and Tver, Klin was often the place of bloody confrontations between the Principality of Moscow and the Principality of Tver.

Today Klin is a large industrial center of the northern Moscow region and one of the most dynamic development territories in the region.

The Bank of Russia put into circulation on September 5 a commemorative and circulating coin with a face of 10 rubles of bimetallic type, belonging to the series called “Ancient Cities of Russia” dedicated to the city of «Klin», located in the Oblast from Moscow.

On the reverse of the coin and in its central core, a panoramic view of the city of Klin and its shield is shown in relief. The inscriptions appear in the ring; at the top "Ancient Cities of Russia" and at the bottom "Klin".

The obverse of the coin, at the top of the ring shows the inscription "Bank of Russia", at the bottom "2019". To the left and right of the ring a branch of laurel and oak, respectively, elements that invade the central disk. In the center are the number "10" and the inscription "ruble" indicating the value of the coin. Within the figure "0" in a latent image you see the figure "10" and the inscription "rub". The mint mark is shown at the bottom.
