Today, Tuesday, September 10, the Bank of Lithuania has issued as planned the 2-euro commemorative coin that starts the series called "Lithuanian Ethnographic Regions." This first piece is dedicated to the «Samogitia Region». Five will be the currencies that this new series will have, same as regions in Lithuania.

The central part of the coin represents a bear standing on its hind legs, with a chain around the neck, this has been represented since the 16th century on the historical coat of arms of Samogitia. The bear is located inside the shield that is topped by a crown and supported by a soldier (symbol of courage, sacrifice and patriotism) and by a goddess with an anchor (symbol of hope), all under the Latin inscription «PATRIA UNA ». The composition is completed with the inscriptions of the name of the issuing country «LIETUVA», of the region «ŽEMAITIJA», for the year of issuance of the currency «2019» and for the mint mark of the Lithuanian Mint, Lietuvos monetų Kalyklo

As all 2 euro coins issued by Lithuania have the inscriptions in the song with the inscriptions LAISVĖ * VIENYBĖ * GEROVĖ (FREEDOM * UNIT * WELFARE).

The issuance volume is 500,000 coins, of which 5,000 in BU quality have been issued in coincard at the price of € 9.
