On 13th February Münzen Österreich will issue the third and final coin of the "Vienna Psychotherapy Schools" series dedicated to Viktor Frankl (1905-1997), world-renowned neurologist and psychiatrist, founder of logotherapy and existential analysis. He wrote 32 books and was awarded with 29 honorary doctorates; His work is full of superlatives. Like no other, he understood how to make the meaning of life tangible.

A characteristic perhaps incidental, although enlightening, of the famous psychiatrist: the fact that he suffered vertigo did not prevent him from practicing climbing and obtaining a pilot's license at 67 years of age.

He also reached the top with his teaching. As an alternative to deep psychology, he coined the term "height psychology"; It focuses on the mental resources of the patient.

From 1942 to 1945 he was imprisoned in four concentration camps: in Theresienstadt, Auschwitz and two satellite camps in Dachau. His parents, his brother and his first wife were killed in the concentration camps. Not long after his release, Frankl wrote an autobiographical book, The Man in Search of Meaning , which described the prisoner's life of a concentration camp from the perspective of a psychiatrist. In this work he explains that, even in the most extreme conditions of dehumanization and suffering, the individual can find a reason to live, based on his spiritual dimension.

From 1961, Frankl served as a professor in the United States at the universities of Harvard, Stanford, Dallas, Pittsburg and San Diego. He continued to teach at the University of Vienna up to the age of 85 on a regular basis. He taught courses and conferences around the world. On September 2, 1997, Viktor Frankl died at the age of ninety-two in Vienna.

The face where the facial appears shows a portrait of Viktor Frankl. The other side focuses on the meaning of the theme, symbolized in the coin by a young girl who, lost in her thoughts with her eyes closed, holds a flower in her hand while leaning on a medallion, on which a bird flies in the center of a labyrinth.
