A new series of coins minted by the United States Mint begins its journey on December 12, date on which the first is issued. They are coins with facials of a dollar that can be acquired at their face value in the United States. Under the name of American Innovation, this series, which begins in 2018 and ends in 2032, aims to honor innovation and innovators by issuing 1-dollar coins for each of the 50 states, the District of Columbia and the five territories of the United States. The first and only currency of 2018, serves as the presentation of this new series. The obverse has the same design common to the entire series, which presents the image of the Statue of Liberty profile and the inscriptions "$ 1" and "IN GOD WE TRUST" (IN GOD WE TRUST).

The design of the reverse will present an image or emblematic images of a significant innovation, an innovator or a group of innovators from each of the 50 states, the District of Columbia or the territories; the name of the state, the District of Columbia or territory, as applicable; and the inscription "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA".



 

The coins in this series will show the year of issue or issue, the mint mark and the text "E PLURIBUS UNUM" (Of many, one) in the song of the coins.






The design of the reverse side of the coin that serves as presentation of the new series, is composed of a representation of President George Washington's signature of the first patent in the United States to Samuel Hopkins on July 31, 1790, for developing a process for Make potash, an ingredient found in fertilizers. The design shows a stylized composition of gears that represent industry and innovation. The mint year, the mint mark and the inscription "E PLURIBUS UNUM" are on the edge of the coin.
