Yesterday Susanne Schmidt, the daughter of German Chancellor Helmut Schmidt, together with German Finance Minister Peter Tschentscher, began symbolically at the mint in Hamburg to coin the 2 euro commemorative coin 2018 dedicates to the "Centenary of the Birth of Helmut Schmidt".
The coin that will have a print run of 30 million will be officially issued on January 31, 2018. The motif was designed by the Berlin artist Bodo Broschat, which shows the image of the former chancellor with his hair thrown to one side and the right hand raised in a gesture characteristic of his speech.
